Last week we again enjoyed a most "sunny" week in the Val d'Herens. It always feels like coming home. We did some skiing on the slopes we had to share with ca. 10 other people and did long walks without meeting anyone.

I was looking for a quiet escape into nature and I got just that. I highly recommend the Great Bear. It is beautifully traditional and cozy, perfect terrace for relaxing and enjoying meals not to mention the stunning views from every room. We had a weekend of amazing hiking, gazing at the stars and running wild with our dog. It was an awesome time, thank you!

The Great Bear in its simplicity offers us what’s essential, but above all a spirit that I love to rediscover in this region of the Val d’Hérens. The small balcony onto which the upstairs rooms open, the terrasse for breaks in the sun, year around, and even in the heart of Winter. If the sun hides, there’s the charm of the ‘pierre ollaire’ ! And the panorama is astounding in whichever direction you look.
